6 Week 'Essence of Photography' Digital Imaging Course

Each student will leave the course with a custom 13x19" print of one of their own photographs, ready to frame.

Join Mike Guilbault on our first extended Essentials of Digital Photography program that we've named, "The Essence of Photography".

This 6 week course will cover everything you need to know to get started and expand your photography skills to new levels.

Who: This workshop is for digital beginners to novice, who want to be totally immersed in a photographic experience. It doesn't matter which brand of DSLR you own as long as you can change lenses and work in Manual Mode. If you don't know how, we'll teach you!

What: The first evening will include an introduction to the course, a course outline and establish where everyone is in their pursuit of photography perfection and cover the essentials to make sure we're all on the same page. This allows me to customze the curriculum to the group and ensure we cover all the essentials.

Following sessions will cover; an in-depth camera orientation including lenses and accessories, the fundamentals of exposure with demonstrations and assignments to make sure you grasp the concepts, shooting in RAW vs JPG, colour spaces and White Balance, how to use your built-in light meter to be more creative, camera tools and techniques to realize your vision, focus and exposure modes, when to use automatic settings and when not to, composition and creating dynamic images, how to 'read light' and find photographs.

We'll wrap up the course with what to do with your images after you've captured them, including; organizing your digital images, software selection, naming your images, the digital workflow, processing JPGs and RAW files, and finally printing and displaying your photographs.

When: 6 Weeks starting March 21, the first Wednesday after March Break and running every Wednesday evening until April 25, 2012, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Doors open at 6:30pm and we start promptly at 7:00 and finish at 9:00pm.
